Helaina Miller is excited to be joining the Jamestown community and considers it a privilege to walk alongside individuals and families through the many different seasons of life. Born and raised in Miles City, Montana, Helaina recently moved to the Jamestown area with her husband for a new career opportunity and is looking forward to making North Dakota home.

Helaina is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Addictions Counselor with nine years of experience in addiction counseling and seven years of professional experience in clinical counseling. Throughout her career, she has had the opportunity to work with people from many different backgrounds and walks of life. Her experience includes helping individuals navigate depression, anxiety, addiction, grief and loss, trauma and PTSD, relationship difficulties, parenting challenges, major life transitions, and other mental and emotional health concerns.

At the heart of Helaina’s work is a genuine love for people. She believes every person has value and deserves to be treated with respect, compassion, sensitivity, and dignity. She understands that reaching out for counseling can feel intimidating, especially when life already feels overwhelming. Her goal is to create a comfortable, safe, and non-judgmental space where clients can be honest about where they are, work through what they are facing, and begin moving toward where they want to be.

Helaina’s counseling style is open, direct, compassionate, and down-to-earth. She believes counseling is not a one-size-fits-all process and works collaboratively with each client to understand their individual needs, experiences, strengths, and goals. She enjoys helping people recognize the strengths they already possess, discover their individual value, and develop practical tools that can help them create meaningful and lasting change.

Her approach draws from several therapeutic methods, including cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, solution-focused therapy, and positive and strengths-based approaches. Most importantly, she tailors the counseling process to the individual sitting in front of her.

Helaina is a born-again Christian, and her relationship with the Lord is an important part of who she is. Like all of us, she considers herself a work in progress and seeks to deepen her faith and grow in her relationship with Christ each day. Her faith has strengthened her belief in the value of every individual and the importance of extending grace, compassion, and hope to others. For clients who desire it, Helaina welcomes the opportunity to incorporate Christian faith and biblical principles into the counseling process while always respecting each person’s individual beliefs and comfort level.

Outside of the counseling office, Helaina’s favorite place to be is with the people she loves—including her very spoiled dog, Kota. She enjoys playing cards and board games, working on puzzles, and soaking up as much sunshine as she can. She feels most at home when she can be outside, especially on or near the water. She loves the color purple, and when Christmas comes around, you’ll find her fully embracing her favorite time of year.

Helaina believes it takes courage to acknowledge when something in life needs attention and to take the first step toward healing and growth. You don’t have to have everything figured out before you walk through the door. Whether you are facing a difficult season, carrying something painful from your past, struggling in a relationship, feeling stuck, or simply realizing life isn’t where you would like it to be, you don’t have to navigate it alone.

Helaina is currently accepting new clients for both in-person and telehealth counseling. She would be honored to meet you where you are, walk alongside you, and support you as you work toward greater healing, growth, and hope.
